Unemployment Compensation
Companies liable under the Federal Unemployment Tax Act are automatically liable for Kansas unemployment insurance when they hire Kansas employees. Multi-state companies not hiring local Kansas employees would be subject to the reporting regulations of their base state. Persons employed as extras are specifically exempted from Kansas Unemployment Tax.

Workers Compensation
Workers compensation coverage is required for most employees in Kansas. Obtaining a private insurance policy or a Kansas endorsement or a current insurance plan provides coverage under the workers compensation regulations. An insurance carrier can make all arrangements.

Child Labor - The Kansas Legislature enacted a bill which restricts the employment of infants on motion picture sets and which requires the establishment of trust funds for the earnings of child actors who earn more than $5000. The bill authorizes the Kansas Department of Human Resources to issue regulations to carry out the purposes of the act and to ensure the safety and well-being of minors on motion picture sets.
